20 Hilarious School Exam Answers

Q. Name the four seasons
A. Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar

The following questions were set in last year’s GCSE examination in England.

These are genuine answers from 16 year olds, not very bright, but entertaining, 16 year olds.

Q. Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink
A. Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists

Q. How is dew formed
A. The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire

Q. What causes the tides in the oceans
A. The tides are a fight between the earth and the moon. All water tends to flow towards the moon, because there is no water on the moon, and nature abhors a vacuum. I forget where the sun joins the fight.

Q. What guarantees may a mortgage company insist on
A. If you are buying a house they will insist that you are well endowed

Not sure all of these are necessarily stupid. Some of them sound like genuinely intentional jokes.

  • Luke

In England students generally don't get taught by professors, the word 'fag' is slang for a cigarette and the term typo is virtually never used. My point is that the vast majority of these were, despite the intro of the topic made by Americans. (of course, I am just assuming)

    • funnystuff

the funny part is its true and you were one of the few and the smart to figure it out and people will think your doing it just to be a jerk.

    • Dude

I'm from England and I say Typo.

    • Misinterpreted

Agree. How many would draw Hawaii, in a question.

  • DWisaspeediceaddict

I believe some of these kids are genuinely simple, but overall it looks to me that most of these answers were just fucking around on the kids part, I do this quite a bit on tests as long as I know they aren't gonna screw with my grades to bad. the people who take the blatantly stupid answers seriously are idiots themselves.

  • Soothseer

Regardless of the intent of the student answering these questions; be it ignorance, misunderstanding or wit; if I were the teacher grading these tests, I would give them half credit. I would do this because the answers are just a different, creative, perspective on the same or related idea. That is to say that for most of the Q&A, the students understood the idea or thought form represented in the question but translated the question or their answer into language differently than the average person knowing the English Language. The idea represented by the question is multidimensional and can be seen from an infinite perspective and is only limited by its translation into language, This is why it is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words, because a picture is more representative of the multidimensionality of the idea being expressed than its translation into language of sound and simple symbol. So in simple terms, the idea was interpreted differently but not wrong because there is enough similarity to the question in the answers given to see quite clearly that each student understood the idea represented in the question.

    • horsetron

      That is very well said.

  • hayley

these are obviously fake just to be funny. you guys really think questions like this would really be on a test? and i highly doubt answers from-i'm guessing standardized testing-would be on the internet. i would think the person(s) who leaked this info would get in trouble….? and usually theyre multiple choice not written out

    • asdfghjkl

considering its a PAST test it doesn't matter what info is released about it.

  • Alex

These are faked. As a teacher, the fact that these were written without any spelling errors and have proper grammar is the first tell. Secondly, nobody is this into puns on a quiz, they either leave it blank or get it wrong. Students don't try to be hilarious (except maybe in the extra credit section) because it's still wrong and you can't give partial credit because then they'll do it every time rather than learn the material. Were a student to do these, it's just a lower mark on a quiz, a lower grade on a report card and then the kid, if he has halfway awake parents, get grounded and nobody wins.

And it's extremely far fetched that someone taking a class that is talking about a ‘Caesarean section’ is going to associate that with the Roman Emperors. I have a desk full of real funny dumb answers, but they're depressing, not witty and "hilarious".

I had a 10th grader (16) write a word problem. You know, something like "If John makes 2 dollars every hour, how much will he have after his 8 hour shift", stuff like that. Here is a real "hilarious" answer to the question "Create your own word problem". Please note, I'm keeping the punctuation and capitol letters the same.

" i went gone to the beach last weekend how many miles I drove "

Now THERE is a real answer from a real student.

    • Not a real student.

      You spelled 'capital' wrong.

    • Benjamin

Who cares if it's fake? It doesn't really matter since it's supposed to be funny…
Besides that, what makes you believe that you understand the psycology of all students? This merely shows that you probaly are a pretentious, posh teacher who bully his students and get a boner just from a little power!
But you are probaly right, it's most likely fake :D

    • :))

you all take sh!t too seriously. live a little. sit down enjoy life and stop taking stuff like this so seriously. I am a teacher too. no its not comon for witty answers like that to come from a student but it has happened. let it go. live~laugh~love

  • level headed

idk why everyone's getting so worked up about all this. they're funny. and yes they could be real. if you don't know the answer and aren't going to get credit for it anyway might as well add a little humor. i used to do it all the time. some kids are ruthless. these don't have to be a bunch of prestigious college kids. also regardless of how someone spells, punctuates, speaks; they could be amazing at something else in the world. everyone gets so angry and judgmental about the posts on this forum yet you're all visiting this site to laugh at these mistakes made by others.. quit hating, have a laugh and shut up :)

  • Blah blah bllah

Fake? Not fake? Prove either, and then you can say something. Other than that, shut the fuck up and try to laugh once in a while. On another note. are all of you that moronic to think that those answers (If real) were the product of a child with a low IQ, or more than likely a smart ass kid who knows the goddamn answer, but doesn't give a rats ass about his multiple weekly standardized tests? Fuck this world gets dumber and dumber every day.

    • :))

      sooooo fucking true!!! :)

  • maureen

this is so like me. xD

    • wartang

most every one down there …v needs to chill. Most of the funny answers i saw seem to come from unchallenged children. Alex don't be such a sanctimonious prick. (sanc·ti·mo·ni·ous)

LOL, most of the kids who write this stuff (I did a few in my day too) know it's complete BS and they aren't really learning. Kids don't learn by having stuff that they'll never use again shoved down their throat and be forced to memorize stuff. Memory isn't learning. Just because a kid memorizes what 6 x 7 is doesn't mean they actually understand how that problem works and why it works. Most of the kids are actually pretty bright to come up with smart ass answers. Even my old school had the classic picture of circling the x and saying "Here it is!" – School and education are not a measure of intelligence, school doesn't teach, it hammers things in till kids either give up and say "F You" or stay awake all night to pass a test usually asking questions on subjects they don't remotely care about, nor will they ever use again. Once school actually teaches why and how things work, then kids will actually get it. This was hilarious, I love the really good drawing of "THIS IS CONFUSING!!"

i did this once with my chem teacher on a work sheet that i just did not want to finish so i drew an elephant with a radio active symbol on it and said "sir i can't do this paper cuz a freaking radioactive elephant was in the way" he told me to put a protective suit on and go finish the paper!…no i did not finish it.

  • Nick

Ah… Our nation's finest honor students at their best.

  • sarah

    lol

  • John Sampson

These kinds of things have been going around for years. They are most definitely made-up. Who on earth at the exam board do you think would be compiling these? Do you think the markers ring a bell every time they get a humorous answer and it gets entered into a vault to eventually make its way on to every cheap crap 'comedy' site on the internet?

  • Barnaby

just came upon this web site, very entertaining when you don't have to work-can't sleep or just plain bored, just sent the url to everyone in my contacts list. when I was 16 RE was compulsory, one exam question was "who was Abraham?", I wrote "our milk man" that was the only Abraham I new. didn't go to RE lessons, just used to skive off.

  • Heehee
