Nah, it actually does not exist… It's the same thing as 1/x but the point of singularity is shifted over to the right by 8. So when approaching this limit from the left hand side you approach negative infinity and when you approach it from the right hand side you approach positive infinity. These are non equal limits, and therefore, the actual limit at the given point does not exist.

On 21, the question is incorrect. The limit as x goes to 8 does not exist, because the limit from the left and the limit from the right do not match. If you plot the curve you'll get a hyperbola that goest to + and – infinity at x = 8. Both the teacher and the people who commented on that in the first page don't know what they are talking about.
